Kisah Pak Sulaiman, Abdikan Hidup Puluhan Tahun Jadi Guru Honorer di Pedalaman Wamena
Viral kisah seorang guru honorer yang merangkap sebagai pendeta di Desa Wamerek, Wamena, Papua. Kisahnya dibagikan oleh Daniel Leonard Sinaga melalui akun Twitternya, daniellsinaga.
Rumah Pak Sulaiman lumayan sulit diakses. Harus menempuh perjalanan lima jam berjalan kaki dari titk terakhir yang bisa dilalui oleh kendaraan.
Pak Sulaiman sudah puluhan tahun menjadi guru honorer. Bahkan, dia bisa dibilang merupakan satu-satunya tenaga pengajar karena kepala sekolah dan guru PNS tinggal di kota dan cuma datang sebulan sekali saja, yaitu di awal bulan dan saat ujian.
“Tapi dari gesture dan raut mukanya, tidak sedikitpun beliau menampakkan keluhan terhadap sikap atasan dan rekan kerjanya,” cuit Daniel.
Pak Sulaiman menjadi satu-satunya orang di kampungnya yang berhasil menjadi sarjana, berkat bantuan misionaris dan tekad kuatnya mendidik anak-anak Lembah Baliem agar bisa menjadi generasi yang lebih maju.
“Beliau sangat mencintai pekerjaannya. Setiap sore banyak anak yang berkumpul diberanda rumahnya untuk membaca buku dan belajar membaca atau berhitung, diluar jam sekolah,” lanjut Daniel.
Terkait penghasilan, Pak Sulaiman menjawab bahwa penghasilannya lebih dari cukup. Dia menjadi guru honorer bukan untuk mencari gaji karena kebutuhan sehari-harinya sudah terpenuhi dari ladang dan kebun.
“Menjadi guru honorer adalah bentuk pelayanannya terhadap Tuhan, sebagaimana beliau memimpin jemaatnya di setiap ibadah hari Minggu,” pungkas Daniel.
