KONSISTEN TERHADAP ATURAN YANG ANDA BUAT

Ketika seorang guru pertama kali masuk ke suatu kelas, sebagian besar selalu membuat kesepakatan dengan murid atau membuat kontrak belajar yang biasanya berbicara tentang hak dan tugas siswa serta hukuman yang diberikan jika dilanggar. Sebagai contoh kontrak belajar yang sering dilakukan adalah jika ada murid yang tidak mengerjakan PR, maka hukumannya adalah bla bla bla bla………

Kondisi ini biasanya dapat berjalan efektif, akan tetapi hanya 1 – 2 bulan saja atau mungkin hanya beberapa pertemuan saja, betul tidak? Kenapa bisa seperti itu? Karena seiring berjalannya waktu, murid-murid akan berpikir, “Paling kalau nggak ngerjakan PR cuma disuruh berdiri di depan”. Bayangkan jika ada 10 anak yang berpikiran seperti itu, dan bayangkan juga jika ada setengah kelas murid anda juga berpikir seperti itu dan “mengamalkannya”.

Bagi kebanyakan guru, ketika menghadapi kondisi yang seperti itu, maka kontrak belajar yang telah disepakati di awal tatap muka seolah sudah menjadi sebuah omong kosong yang tidak perlu dilanjutkan lagi.

Saya pernah jumpai guru yang begitu semangat melakukan kontrak belajar terhadap siswanya pada awal masuk. Pada awalnya peraturan dan kontrak dapat berjalan dengan baik, namun setelah kurang lebih 5 – 6 pertemuan mulai terlihat ada kelonggaran terhadap peraturan dan kontrak dan kemudian kurang lebih sekitar 1 bulan kemudian peraturan dan kontrak yang telah dibuat sudah tidak berlaku. Ketika saya bertanya mengapa bisa seperti itu kepada guru tersebut dia kemudian menjawab, awalnya memang berjalan dengan baik, ketika ada salah satu siswa yang melanggar maka aturan berjalan, namun dari hari ke hari siswa yang melanggar bukannya berkurang namun semakin banyak dan bahkan hampir 40% – 60% penghuni kelas yang melanggar seperti tidak mengerjakan tugas PR pada hampir setiap hari. Dan pada akhirnya daripada banyak yang dihukum maka yang pada awalnya pengampunan bagi yang melanggar dan dikarenakan semakin hari semakin banyak yanag melanggar, maka menjadi pembiaran bagi yang melanggar aturan dan kontrak.

Wow Luar Biasa….Mengapa Luar Biasa? karena inilah awal dari sebuah kesalahan dan kesemrawutan yang turut membuat kondisi kelas jadi AMBURADUL. Awal dari sebuah keputus asaan seorang guru ketika menghadapi permasalahan yang telah membudaya di kelas.

Kontrak atau aturan yang dibuat jangan sampai sekedar pelengkap aturan kelas saja. Jika seorang guru tidak mampu melaksanakan aturan yang telah disepakati bersama maka saran saya JANGAN JADI GURU! Lho kok?….ya ialah….coba bayangin aja anda sekarang menjadi sopir bus patas jurusan Solo – Jakarta. Semua penumpang yang naik bis itu pastinya penumpang yang akan bepergian ke Jakarta atau daerah yang disinggahi bis untuk berhenti, karena bis patas tidak berhenti disembarang tempat. Jika kemudian ada seorang penumpang yang menghendaki berhenti di tempat yang bukan tempat berhenti bis dan anda menghentikan bis kemudian ada beberapa penumpang yang meminta anda untuk mampir terlebih dahulu di restoran dan anda menghentikan bis dan begitu seterusnya anda mengikuti permintaan penumpang yang ingin berhenti di suatu tempat yang jelas-jelas itu bukanlah tempat pemberhentian bis. Apakah pada akhirnya bis itu sampai ke tujuannya di Jakarta? Jawabannya ya, namun bis patas itu bukanlah bis patas lagi melainkan bis ekonomi yang berlabel patas.

Aturan dan kontrak belajar yang telah disepakati bersama harus mampu dikawal bersama oleh seluruh penghuni kelas dan seorang guru berperan membawa kelas tersebut mampu mencapai tujuan secara bersama-sama dalam kondisi yang baik tanpa ada masalah. Adapun aturan dibuat memang harus ditaati bersama, ketegasan menjadi sikap yang harus ditunjukkan oleh setiap guru ketika mengawal aturan dan kontrak belajar di kelas. Konsisten menjadi kunci utama terhadap segala kontrak belajar atau aturan yang dilaksanakan.

Cerita tentang pengalaman menjadi wali kelas dan melakukan kontrak belajar telah saya tulis di bagian Jadikan Murid Sebagai Tantangan. Konsisten terhadap aturan tidak hanya untuk siswa saja melainkan kita yang melakukan kontrak belajar terhadap siswa juga harus konsisten terhadap diri sendiri. Nah…tidak jarang pula faktor tidak berjalannya peraturan di dalam kelas karena guru sendirilah yang menciderai kontrak belajar tersebut. Karena guru sendiri yang melanggar peraturan maka para siswa pun seolah juga memperoleh kelonggaran. Intinya jika kita (guru) kencingnya sambil berdiri, maka (pasti) murid-murid kencingnya sambil berdiri dan berlari.

Jadi kalau kondisi kelas sudah menjadi tidak kondusif untuk pembelajaran alias amburadul, maka jangan salahkan murid anda saja, melainkan salahkan juga anda, karena ternyata anda juga punya andil terhadap keamburadulan kelas anda.
